Karimnagar is a district city on the Manair River, known as the City of Granites for the quarries near Baopet and nationally known for its silver filigree. It is the most densely populated city in Telangana by the 2011 census, with literacy of 85.82 percent, and it has been a municipal corporation since 2005. The Clock Tower and the bazaar belt around it are the busy centre. The Karimnagar Kaman was built in 1937 for the Nizam's Silver Jubilee, Elgandal Fort stands nearby, and Ujwala Park and Deer Park sit close to the Lower Manair Dam. The Karimnagar Cable Bridge, opened in 2023, shortens the road to Warangal by 7 km. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Sports Complex is the main stadium ground. IT Tower opened in 2020, and the Government Medical College and Chalmeda Anand Rao and Prathima medical institutes bring students in. Gmedia is a media and events company based in Hyderabad. We know Karimnagar from our own work here: the Kirrak Party New Year event at Ambedkar Stadium, with dance performances by Anasurya and Porna. The team works from Hyderabad and travels to Karimnagar for each project.
